| BACK in 1926 there appeared an advertisement in The Occult Review, of London, England, inviting all earnest seekers who would be interested in a “Message from the Masters of the Wisdom,” to write to a certain address in England. In May of that year was published in the same magazine an article from the pen of “E. A. Chaylor,” entitled The Shadow, that excited a great deal of comment; as did a second article, The Tocsin, published in July, 1926. “As a consequence a run occurred on the issues in question, which have been in more or less constant demand ever since,” quoting from a recent editorial in the same magazine.
