+MARCH fourth, nineteen hundred and thirty three, was to me a momentous day in the history of the United States. I wish briefly to describe two events that took place in Washington that day, whose significance I leave to each one who reads to judge for him or herself.
+First, let me state that last Summer the study group of which I am a member had the privilege of listening to one who works consciously in the Inner Realms. Someone asked him to describe Jesus Christ, as He is today. The description given helped all of us to visualize Him clearly.
+I was driving down Pennsylvania Avenue, when suddenly, while looking at the crowd that thronged the sidewalks, I almost jumped out of our car. I turned to my wife and said, excitedly, “Look at that Man on the corner!” For as I watched him, the mental picture I had formed as the result of the above description of Christ flashed vividly into my mind, and the Man answered the description perfectly!
+We did not know what to make of it; further action or comment was made difficult because of the traffic.
+Next, as Roosevelt stood with his hand on the Bible, to take the oath of office, I looked up in the overcast sky. And there in the clouds, was a perfect reproduction of the face of Jesus Christ—almost an exact duplicate of Da Vinci’s portrait, at least so it seemed to me, and it looked down on the assembled multitude for almost a full minute; then it disappeared. The expression on that face was one of infinite understanding and compassion.
