-I HAVE been spending much time in meditation and prayer, turning my attention away from the disturbing outer conditions and trying to abide in the peace and joy of the “Kingdom.” For some time I have been wondering if I am not leaving my body at night and doing some work on inner planes. I had peculiar sensations upon awakening as of having been away off—my body being most often partly numb, where it touched the bed. I have had dreams which are much more vivid than most dreams and would seem to indicate I have been working and helping others—teaching and assisting here and there, sometimes in company with persons I know who are alive and active in the physical world—in one or two instances persons I had no idea were interested in esoteric truths.
-The most outstanding dream was as follows: I was standing by my bed in a room, looking at a man who sat in a straight chair, as if asleep. I was fascinated with horror at a monstrous shape which had fastened itself, seeming by its will, to the man’s forehead. Its head was gorilla-like, but utterly malevolent, full of hate and evil, and I sensed that it was using its will to the utmost to absorb the man’s mind and to make his mind like its own—one with its own in fact. Its shape was like a huge tadpole, except shorter and thicker in proportion—being some three feet long at most, but its head much larger than a human’s, hairy and vile-looking.
