+IN THE April, 1935, issue of the INNER LIFE Magazine on page 55, reference is made to the various organs of the body obeying the individuals wishes. It was stated that they must be fully convinced. That it is not merely what one commands but what is inwardly felt or believed that causes them to act.

+In December, 1927, I received a letter from Sheldon Leavitt. I will quote from that letter: “If you get well established in your mind the fact that the body is intelligent in every part and that your Will has authority over the intelligences which enter into the structure of it, it will at once become far easier for you to go about physical control with better effect. So I ask you to remember that THE HUMAN ORGANISM IS A FEDERATION OF INTELLIGENCES. Every cell, and every organ of the body is endowed with a degree of mentality. The selective action of the work is done by the cells which are grouped into organs and systems for the performance of certain duties, and the organs take on collective intelligent action. Into the brain and nervous system are introduced highly differentiated cells for still higher action. This all means that every part of the organism is filled not only with life, but with intelligent life. And that life is there not for haphazard action, but for systematic work in the interest of the organism. It is there to serve your interests and mine.

+“If you get this picture of yourself well formed you will be prepared to learn that THE INTELLIGENCES WHICH ENTER INTO THE STRUCTURE OF THE ORGANISM ARE RESPONSIVE TO CONSCIOUS CONTROL. It is true that they do not respond as promptly to conscious direction in one case as in another. For example, what are termed the voluntary muscles will promptly do what the conscious mind tells them to do. One can walk, and run, and jump at will. But one cannot control vital action in that same direct and immediate way. The intelligences in charge of the essential processes of the body require to be shown good reason for modifying their action before they respond. They bear heavy responsibilities, and were they open to the same conscious control as that shown by the voluntary
