SOME have said that the writer has entirely overcome the handicap of physical blindness, and she has been requested to give out her methods, so that others may be benefited by her achievement.

It is not true that she has entirely overcome her physical handicap. As far as the material objects on this earth are concerned, nothing can fully take the place of physical eyesight. The eye is the organ by means of which the discerning of material objects is best accomplished, according to the belief of the writer, and physically normal sight is best for those who can use it to advantage.

It is surprising, however, to find how little the sighted people really see. They usually see only what they expect to see, what they wish to see, or what they have been told by others that they should see. To the spiritual sight, however, is revealed the most surprising things concerning objects which the physical sight very often overlooks, as being too commonplace or of no importance.

The writer, to the surprise of the salesman, laid her hand upon a locked wardrobe and described it in detail, both inside and out—the color of the varnish and the scroll work at the top, though it was fully three feet above her head. Yet she is totally blind, having been so for eight years, and has never had the courage to try to walk alone upon the streets of her city, although these have been so well known to her that she can direct others to the location of buildings and homes along the way. Once when she was led by a maid in such a careless manner that she stumbled over the iron door of a safe that was lying on the sidewalk, she had a distinct view of the object she had stumbled over, seeing even the broken hinges.

Once she passed under a hanging lamp-shade which some one had placed in the hall of her home. Though she had never seen it, for it was quite new, and she had been blind for five years, when it touched the top of her head, she saw it and described it as a sand-colored with a vine running over it. The leaves of the vine are egg-shaped.”

Her vision has been extended so that distance is of no hindrance, and when a popular ruler was reading his message to the people
