====== The Inner Life ====== == THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | JULY 1937 == ---- ==== A CHALLENGE TO METAPHYSICIANS ==== DEAR Brothers in Spiritual Ministry: As a practical experiment in developing the Christ Consciousness, please consider conducting meetings on the basis suggested below. Here we are, a group of earnest, thoughtful individuals. Are we seeking the Light of the World? No! Are we seeking the Light for the World? Yes! But why seeking? Why not sending? We believe that through the Christ Light, which is within each one of us, we all have sending power. WE BELIEVE THAT WE ARE BROADCASTING STATIONS, NOT MERE RECEIVING SETS. So, leaping from the “I AM” of the occultist to the “We Are” of the Brotherhood of Christ, we unify ourselves, through Christ, with one another, with our Loving Father, with all mankind, with everyone, everywhere. First, in invocation, meditating on each phase of the thought, we address ourselves to Our Loving Father, Source of all Good. “Father, we thank Thee that through the power and glory of the Living Christ, indwelling within each one of us, we all have broadcasting power—the power to broadcast Thy Love, Thy Life and Thy Truth to anyone—to everyone, everywhere.” (These words of invocation may be spoken by the leader and repeated, phrase by phrase, by the members. It is very essential that all phrases for repetition be short, otherwise there arises the strain of trying to remember.) Now, still in invocation, we address ourselves to the Living Christ: “Thy power, O Loving Christ, Thy Living Presence, here with us now, we would send forth in love and faith, in a prayer for the good of everyone, everywhere.” Now, the invocations over, we unite in speaking the Word. First we speak the Word for the spiritual illumination of everyone present in the meeting. We will say: “In the name and through the power of the Jesus Christ we radiate the Love of God to everyone present.” And we will repeat this three times. Now, in the same way, for our perfection on the physical plane: “We are whole, sound, perfect! \\ We are whole, sound, perfect! \\ We are whole, sound, perfect—through Christ in us!” (Here a brief interval for silent meditation) Now we will speak the Word for our perfection on the mental plane: “We have strength, power, peace! \\ We have strength, power, peace! \\ We have strength, power, peace—through Christ in us!” Now for our supply: “There is abundant supply for all our needs—through Christ who is all that we are!” (Two times as above) Now, speaking the same Word in the same way but making the word “Our” include everyone on this tiny planet: “There is abundant supply for everyone’s needs—through God’s Life, Consciousness and Nature expressing in everyone!” The above statement is a factual truth as well as a statement of spiritual truth. All mankind has to do now is to use the brains that God has given us. The minds which invented fast machinery can also develop efficient distribution. Now each one will single out a friend who needs help. We will say for him or her: “We bless you! We love you! You are expressing the life, consciousness and nature of our loving Father God.” After a brief interval for silent realization we add the Word: “Father, we thank Thee that through Christ it is so.” Now, unifying ourselves in love and faith with the high Spiritual Powers of this planet, we will speak the Word for anyone doing the Master’s Work in the world. “We bless you! We acclaim your high spiritual power! Through Christ in you we see Life, Love, and Truth expressing freely through you!” After an interval for silent realization: “Father we thank Thee, that through Christ this is so.” Now for all those on this planet who rule by murder and who lust for personal power: “We bless you! We forgive you! We see the Christ Presence transforming you!” Now to President Roosevelt, or to anyone else, either saint or sinner, who needs more of what we all need: “We bless you! We see the Christ Power manifesting Perfection in you and through you!” Metaphysicians all, which would be more effective as a means of tuning in with the Universal Christ Power, a service such as is suggested above or a service in which each one in the assembly seeks the Light for himself? Which is best, to enact boldly our spiritual mastery through Christ, or to seek and strive to attain spiritual mastery? In the one case we stand together, an assembly of spiritual masters who have everything to give and who are giving freely and gloriously of all the good there is. In the other case, each one of us stands alone—seeking the light for himself first. Which service do you think would meet the approval of Jesus Christ? In a Spiritual Mastery Service we could, with advantage, transpose some of our Truth songs. Now we could sing the Truth songs for some great order of good, or for the redemption of some destructive personality, or for some humble friend who needs a lift. We could now sing: “We clothe you, safely ’round with infinite love and wisdom.” We could sing: “God is our help in every need. God does our every hunger feed.” We could make the word “our” mean all of us in this assembly, or all who are on this tiny planet or all who are on the invisible planes. I predict that the day will come when the Truth ministry will be a glorious broadcasting of the Christ Consciousness. Then Truth services will cease being meetings in which the main thought is: How can I get more? How can I get mine? The world is waiting for some great soul who will lead the Way, a Master in the Christ Consciousness who will conduct a High Power Spiritual Broadcasting Station in the name and through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then, all over the world, in the dark, unknown places, there will be those who will be awakened by the Light. When we have a sufficient volume of prayer for the good of all, the millennium will come.—H. F. I understood the Master’s words, \\ “Let the little ones come unto Me, \\ For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” I knew \\ The peace of Life’s Purity, \\ And the grave clothes faded—the tomb was ablaze \\ As Light through the Temple flamed, \\ And I stood reborn in the Spirit of Love, \\ Naked and unashamed. \\ —S.
