====== The Inner Life ====== == THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | JUNE 1933 == ---- Thinking thus of my physical body drew me to it. The sense of the inner bedroom vanished, and I noticed or felt myself taking the same position as the body I had left lying there on the bed. I didn’t see it there, but I felt myself taking a horizontal position with my face down, my arms bent and the palms of my hands facing the pillow. Coming in contact with my body I experienced what it experienced—the same dizzy feeling near the diaphragm, and the same fears. So once more I spoke to it, “Don’t be afraid, be patient and take your time about it.” My brain mind was convinced that it’s consciousness had been out of the body, and this being a new experience for it, it wanted to awaken. As soon as it gave up trying to awaken, I found myself back in the same room in the inner world sitting up in the same bed near a French door leading out into the garden. Turning my head to the right I saw the bedroom door leading into the hall open and an elderly couple walk in. I never saw them before. The man came towards the bed and sat down in the chair near the foot, while the woman passed between the bed and the chair toward the French door. As she passed she told me that this was AEsop, my teacher on the inner plane, under whose guidance I have been all my life. I found on these planes that thoughts vibrate very rapidly and being new to such vibrations I didn’t get the full name, but I saw in the air the first two letters very plainly; they were bright and hooked together—“AE”. From this I understood that he was the same great philosopher of earth who had written the book of Fables. Upon hearing that I had been a pupil of such a famous philosopher, I felt elated. What part of me felt elated?
