==== A SOUL SET FREE ====
A SHAFT of light broke over my bed,
\\  “’Tis the coming of dawn,” was all I said.
\\ But the message had come through the light to me,
\\  “Not dawn, but the light of a soul set free.”

A bird sang gladly to the morn,
\\ It sang of a world to love new born.
\\ But the song was not from the bird on the tree,
\\  It was the song of a soul from the body free.

\\ A breeze that was light as a fairy’s kiss,
\\ Whispered to me of eternal bliss.
\\ But ’twas not the breeze of the nearby sea,
\\  It was the touch of a soul from the body free.

A rustle of joy in the leaves o’er head,
\\ “Home-coming of birds,” was all I said.
\\ I caught the leaves which fell about me,
\\  They were jewels of love from a soul set free.

The rain-drops fell on each little flower,
\\ And a rainbow broke like an arch of power.
\\ And in each color I could see,
\\  The life of a soul from the body free.

Then, far in the distance, higher and higher,
\\ There came a glad shout of a heavenly choir.
\\ And a welcome beyond the gates I could see,
\\  To a soul forever free—free—free.
