====== The Inner Life ====== == THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | OCTOBER 1936 == ---- chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For behold, the Lord cometh out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity.” Never doubt that He will not come, for the Law works unerringly and swiftly, once the judgment has been rendered. Be you of those in whose consciousness there is no belief in the power of evil. Be not like “the foolish man who built his house (his understanding and beliefs) upon the sands (of other peoples’ words, unverified by personal study and knowledge), and when the rain (trials and difficulties) descended, and the flood (of fear, worry and concern) came, and the winds (of adversity) blew and smote upon that house—great was the fall thereof.” Rather be like “the wise man, who built his house upon the rock (of Truth, supported by a perfect love and trust in God); and when the rain descended, and the flood came, and the winds blew, it fell not; for it was founded upon the rock.”—Matt. 7:24-27. How may one build such a house and know when one is being definitely guided? First, one must learn to turn always within to God and get quiet and wait upon Him. There remember all of the Truth you have learned about Him—how He is All that you are, is your strength, your support, your supply, your sufficiency in all things. When your mind is quiet and you are resting in Him, then think of these words—that whenever you are strongly and persistently pushed from within to do something, realize that it is God—your Higher Self—urging you to do it; therefore it is the thing for you to do at that time. If you have heard that someone has told you to do something or if you have read that you should do it, but there is no inner response and there is a doubt whether you should do it—do not do anything. Wait until you are pushed from within to do something, and only then do it. Above all things these days, watch for the strong inner urges, and do not fail to obey them. One who strictly watches and obeys these two rules, will never make any mistakes, and will have learned to follow his own inner guidance—to listen to the voice of the Lord within. {{ :36-438.jpg |}} ---- //⥳ [[editorial_oct36_5|previous page]] // | // [[editorial_oct36_7|next page]] ⥴ //
