The Inner Life

A NOTE of real importance at the International New Thought Congress held in Buffalo recently was the address by Ada Rainey of the Science of Truth Association of Washington, D. C. Miss Rainey gave a message that awakened enthusiastic response, one that is destined to play an important part in the life of the new epoch in which we now find ourselves. “The New Era” was the subject of the talk, the main idea being that as we hear much about the New Era in which we are living, the time is now ripe when we more definitely can take part in making the term real.

Because the President and the men closely connected with the government are keen to give us a New Deal, their minds and that of people in general seem to be open to a vital acceptance of progressive ideas of the Kingdom of Heaven, come on earth. There was, of course, no political significance or propaganda in what the speaker said, the motive being to form a great movement among those who understand, to vitally and definitely take an active part in helping to bring the Kingdom down to earth.

Of course, this can be done only in men’s minds first. To that end it was suggested that all the Teachers of Truth Centers and classes in the country ask their students to pray and meditate together upon the words of the first part of the Lord’s prayer: “Our Father which art in heaven, all hallowed is thy name; Let thy Kingdom come, Let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

In this universal theme which is broad enough to appeal to all sects, to those who have creeds and those who do not, the idea is to declare dynamically this truth every day and thus to help prepare the way for the descent of the Kingdom on earth. The speaker was, of course, aware that many Truth Centers have been holding the thought for the general good for a long time, but she urged a more dynamic devotion to—a living faith—the idea. To be devoted to the great cause of universal peace, goodwill and progress and to the love and power of the Kingdom, there must be a purposeful working with the idea that the time is now ripe to bring it forth.
