The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | APRIL 1933

form was covered with a beautiful lacy, very fine linen piece.

As I stood looking at the form a hand touched the boy and he fell back on a cushion, asleep. The same hand pulled the covers down and removed the linen from the face. And what I saw then I will never forget to the end of my days—for the sheer unearthly beauty of it.

I looked into the face of a girl of wondrous loveliness! The face seemed carved of ivory; the hair fell to her shoulders in shiny blue-black waves; the arms, hands, shoulders of perfect symmetry. I loved this soul with a tenderness I cannot describe.

I reached out both hands to her, and slowly she opened her eyes—black depths of loveliness! Her eyes and my eyes fastened upon one another, and her look never left me until she was taken out of my hands.

Slowly she reached both arms up to me, and I took her two hands into mine and lifted her tenderly out of her body. Then I took her gently out of the house. I glided backwards, and holding her hands and looking into my eyes she followed me. Out in the garden under the blooming trees she was taken away from me by a beautiful Angel of Light. I let go of her hands and as I passed away from her slowly, her eyes still followed me.

And I found the empty shell of her astral body was still hanging limply on my hands! As I noticed this the wind seemingly lifted it away and wafted it out of sight.

Then I found myself back again in my room, wide awake. And I knew that I had helped a beautiful soul to pass the threshold from the physical to the spiritual life.
