The Inner Life

CONTAINING quotations from our replies to those writing us for help in their spiritual problems. Each day at 12 o’clock noon, we take the names of those asking for such help in the Silence of the Spirit, and “Speak the Word” for them. Many hundreds have testified to receiving the blessings of such ministry.

TRY TO realize the great truth of what we shall now say to you. Do you believe that God is all there is—that He is All in all? Then must He not be all that you are? Can you conceive of God having Asthma? That is what you are saying is so.

Then can you not see that with all the consciousness, life and nature you have being actually God’s, it would be impossible for you to have Asthma? Why do you believe that you have it?

Because someone once talked with you about Asthma, believing he or she had it, and telling you all about it, thus planting a strong suggestion in your mind. And then one day when you had a little cold or sore throat, or whatever started it, you remembered the suggestion and began to build a picture in your mind of yourself having the Asthma. And because you feared you might be getting it, you fed that picture until the thought became thoroughly alive and active in your consciousness mess. And everytime you caught a little cold or sneezed, you found that picture grew more and stronger fears, until it grew to be the monster in your mind of which you are so deathly afraid.

We are trying to show you that that picture and the Asthma, which you call it, exists only in your mind, and that if you would erase that picture from your mind, just as surely as you would no longer see it or think of it, there would be no more Asthma!

We have placed this squarely before you, so that you can see it exactly as it is. It is now up to you whether you want to keep that living picture any longer in your mind, carrying it around with you and hugging it closely to yourself; or whether you want to get rid of it once and for always.

Then everytime it presents itself to you, simply say, “NO! Asthma has no part in God’s life and consciousness, therefore it has no part in me. For God is all that I Am!” Say this, and mean it, with all the power of your soul, and you will erase that picture from your mind completely.

This will apply equally as well to Hay Fever, Influenza or any other “popular” disease.
