back of his words.
My thoughts and words are powerful; in fact, so much so, that I have to be very, very careful what I say. For instance, that neighbor across the street owned a vicious police dog. He did not like children and on several occasions ran out and bit the children that were passing by. He was forever chasing automobiles. One morning he was unusually noisy. I said to my husband, “I wish that dog would get run over and killed. He is no good to himself or any one else.” I spoke before I thought, or I never would have said it. The very next day he was hit by a truck and instantly killed.
In my next letter I will tell you about my experiences in healing. I always watch for the “still small Voice” within to guide me as to which method to use in giving a treatment. Sometimes It will instruct me to give it one way, while at another time the method will be just the reverse.
Two years ago, when I first started to give treatments; I took the reins in my own hands and gave the treatment as I thought it should be given. With results? Complete failure. While in the Silence one day, I asked the Father why I was not successful in treating. This is what I received: “My child, when you let Me guide and instruct you in giving a treatment, you will have no failures. So long as you persist in doing My work in your own stubborn way, just so long will you be a failure.”
That, indeed, was a slap in the face. I at once took inventory of myself, and found to my dismay, that it was all too true. I had taken the whole responsibility upon myself, and left the Father out of it. I began to right-about face. Believe me, dear friends, from that day on, no matter what I do, I always ask the Father to direct me. With results? An instantaneous demonstration. Now, when I speak the Word, I KNOW it is done, and it is so.

O GOD, we have known and believed the Love that Thou hast for us. May we by dwelling in love, dwell in Thee whom we have not seen by loving our brethren whom we have seen. Teach us, O Heavenly Father, the Love wherewith Thou hast loved us; fashion us, O Blessed Lord, after Thine own example of love; shed abroad, O Thou Holy Spirit of Love, the love of God and man in our hearts—Amen. —Henry Alford
