THINK’ST thou the Quest was finished
In Arthur’s ancient reign,
And never would the Holy Grail
Be found by man again?
Symbol of the Eternal Flame,
Our Father-God above,
The Source Divine perpetual,
Fountain of Life and Love:
One Father as One Christ in all,
Though seeming far apart,
But dwelling as one’s own True Self,
Deep hidden in each heart.
The wondrous radiance of that Cup—
His Beauty shining through,
The Light that lighteth every man—
The Father’s Presence, too.
When once one’s own Real Self be known,
And the Cup of Life be found,
Will not a brighter Way be shown
Than earth’s e’er wearing round?
Then make the Father ever first,
And take not any thought,
Knowing the illusory mortal self
As nothing, and can do naught:
In full surrender yield thyself,
Only thy Father see,
Say from thy heart “Thy Will be done,”
“Father, I wait on Thee.”
Then, through thy faith, and love for God,
The Way, Himself, He’ll show;
And that blest Cup shall touch thy lips,
And on all overflow.
