The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MAY 1934

and only in Spiritualism do we find these great fundamental principles emphasized and the accretions (of the church) ignored. I submit that Spiritualism is the only true religion for the present and the future.”

Now we will not enter into his claims for Spiritualism at this time, for the reason that we know there are many Spiritualists in this country who have a much higher understanding of Jesus’ part in the Cosmic Scheme of Life than does the author, and who are true Christians, even while believing much that he holds out for Spiritualism. It was in no way necessary to destroy anyone’s faith in Christianity in order to advance his claims for Spiritualism; for it contains enough truths that speak for themselves and needs not such kind of championing.

What we wish to emphasize again is the pernicious influence of such a book. Due to a vast system of propaganda operating all over the world, people are being bombarded with all kinds of literature subtly belittling Christianity, Jesus Christ and even God; and it is amazing the way boys and girls in schools and colleges are responding to it—not to speak of the large army of men and women who are listening to and are being influenced by its insidious sophistries and deliberate falsehoods.

Because such statements are given out under the signature of a Professor, a Doctor of Divinity, a Scientist, or other high-sounding title, many who do not think for themselves, and they number in the hundreds of millions, are taken in and allow all their former beliefs about the fundamental principles of life to be swept away.

But all such as well as all Christians will wake up some day, when perhaps too late to escape the deluge, and will learn who is responsible for what is happening in the world today.

Again we say, God and Those of His Agents Who are in charge of the destiny of humanity know what is going on, and have every destructive force wholly under Their control. But men will have to suffer the results of their own ignorance, self-complacency and belief in all these sophistries and lies. Only thus will they learn; only thus can they grow in knowledge and spiritual understanding.

Jesus Christ is the “Rock of Truth” for this age, the only refuge, the only way of escape. But we do not mean Jesus
