IN THIS period of readjustment, while making ready for the New Age, during which period the old order is being torn down and uprooted, preparatory to building a sound foundation for the new, we necessarily must expect to see some drastic changes take place before our very eyes.

So few realize what that means. In fact, the great majority are still hanging onto the old, refusing to let go or to believe that they have to have any change. On the other hand, many of the affected ones, sensing the impending change, rush unthinkingly to accept anything that promises to remedy existing conditions, not getting even a glimpse of what really lies ahead and of the glorious future that awaits when we enter fully into the New Age.

It is not our purpose at this time to talk of that future, but instead to view what is now taking place, to point out its significance, and to suggest to our readers the most effective way to help in these strenuous times, and without becoming involved in any manner in the conditions around us.

We mean just that—not becoming involved in these conditions; for in allowing ourselves to become involved, emotionally or otherwise, we cannot see clearly what is best to do, but are more or less influenced, though perhaps unconsciously, by the beliefs and feelings of others. When uninvolved we are brought to realize that these conditions must yield to the invisible forces of righteousness and justice.

Yes, the people are waking up, are beginning to learn the truth about how long they have allowed themselves to be exploited by the money powers, and how they are on the way of being exploited again by the labor powers, if they permit it, and they are getting ready to do something.

Do not think for a moment that this is not so. Remember the seed of decay is in every condition in which selfishness rules; that it cannot last, and that the greater its rottenness the sooner it will destroy itself.

Out of this seeming chaos something fine and great is emerging—a New Age of sanity, understanding and faith in the invisible power of righteousness and justice that has ever ruled the world. Few can see this as yet, because of being involved in their beliefs in the rights of one side or the other.

NOW HOW can we help at this time, and without becoming involved in the conditions of either side?

In one way only, and that is to align ourselves unequivocally on the side of righteousness and justice—which is above both of the other sides; this means we must take that stand not only in all our speech and actions, but especially in our thinking, for in right thinking lies our greatest—our true—creative power and which naturally affects everything else in our lives.

To show you just what we mean, we will remind you of the Law—“Whatever we think and believe—or hold in consciousness as being so—outmanifests in our lives and affairs.” That of course applies to humanity as a whole as well as to individuals. Then whatever is now manifesting in the world is the result of what we think or formerly thought and believed was right.

We cannot get away from it; the great majority of mankind believed that the methods that formerly were operating almost everywhere in the world were right—men having been deceived into believing that such was God’s plan for them. In fact, men’s minds were literally lulled to sleep and their wills rendered supine under a system that from the very beginning built up the perversion that “might makes right.” Have not men always been the slaves of the strong—of those commanding their lives or their jobs?

But the majority of mankind are indeed waking up, in that they are beginning to think for themselves, and thereby to learn the truth that the Creator intends that every man shall have plenty to eat and to wear and of every needed thing, as does every other of His creatures—that no man or number of men have the right to deprive him of such.

So as man is beginning to think rightly, the old system established in humanity’s consciousness is breaking up and is making way for the new beliefs building up in men’s minds; and consequently in obedience to the Law, something new is coming into manifestation. But as men are not yet wholly sure in their minds just what they want, their beliefs are not clear-cut and are not therefore established in their consciousness.

Of this you may be sure, however, they will learn the full truth in time; their Higher Selves, now that their minds are learning to listen, will quickly unfold to them the truth, and then the Law will take care of the rest and bring it into manifestation; in other words as they learn the truth that only the right and just is God’s plan and purpose for them, the truth will make them free.

But just what must our part be in aligning ourselves on the side of righteousness and justice—how must we think, speak and act to correct the wrong conditions now manifesting?

In one way only, by SEEING and KNOWING the truth, that the New Age—the Kingdom of Righteousness and Justice—IS COMING FORTH and is pushing through what appears from the inner world into the outer world; that this is the true cause of the breaking up of old conditions—and that nothing can stop it, any more than when the light comes anything can stop the darkness from disappearing. For when the light of truth is brought into the consciousness of enough of humanity, the darkness of error and evil must flee into the nothingness which they really are.

This means that we must keep our minds and hearts fixed on the emerging New Age, knowing now what it is; must think nothing else, speak of nothing else, and act as if we are already in it. But this also means that we must think, speak and act always according to the principles of righteousness and justice—the principles of true Brotherhood here and now.

Can one do that? Yes, if we want it strongly enough to make ourselves do it. The Law does not work for the weak-willed, the wavering, or for those who do not know what they want. But for those who work with it—who think a thing persistently until they believe it is so—it works with and for them until their belief becomes a manifest reality.

Think not that one thinking alone can accomplish little if anything. That is far from true, for truth like light is so powerful that it dispels the darkness of ignorance and shines forth in a mind that positively knows it like a beacon light, and lights the way for many souls seeking the truth.

The New Age is destined to be a reality, and will be brought into manifestation by those clear thinking minds who hold fast to the Truth we have declared above, despite anything that is now manifesting that does not line up with righteousness and justice. Such is of the darkness of error, and must disappear in the light of Truth that is now rapidly flooding into men’s minds.
