A DREAM
By L. J. D.
I WAS walking along a beautiful country side through which were many paths leading across fields of many hued flowers. I followed one of these paths, on one side a ravine and thick woods. I could hear falling water. Such peace, and a feeling of the nearness of the Infinite, seemed everywhere.
Then, before me, appeared a beautiful house among these lovely trees. The doors and windows stood open. I entered the house from the rear, which was sheltered by a deep wood. The moment I entered I felt the presence of “One” leading me.
From room to room we walked, each one more beautiful. Then we started up a back stairway; at the top we entered a room prepared for a child.
I was enchanted; such color harmony! The walls were covered with little furry animals that seemed alive; there was a fairy-like haze everywhere, toys scattered here and there, a small soft bed; even the casement windows swung enchantingly outward.
I stepped to one. Sure enough, it hung open outward into the woods. Even as I looked I joyed to see fairies and bunnies skipping among the trees. Oh, I was enchanted, and wanted to stay; and wanted a child to love and install here!
But my guide insisted on my leaving. We went back down the stairs, then through a narrow hallway, then through a door into the front hall. On my entrance I was instantly struck silent with ecstasy at the beauty I beheld everywhere!
