A LITTLE CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM

HERE is a little happening that might interest your readers. It is about a little girl just two months over five years old. This is the story.
I have been subject to severe headaches for a couple of years, so severe that each time my family expects me to die; but of course I knew that I would not. In the afternoon I was sitting on the porch trying to forget the headache, when Mary Katherine came across the street to see me.
As she came up the steps I said, “Mary Katherine, if you had come over sooner, you could have prayed for me and cured my headache.”
She stood perfectly still and looked at me, and said, “Why you are just like that side-walk and that tree, and you are just the same as this chair.”
I understood at once what was happening, and I said, “Do you mean that I am just one with them—that they do not have headaches?” She said “Yes,” then laughed.
But when I looked in her eyes what I saw there was indescribable. I knew that I saw her soul—and soul, who elected to teach me a great truth through those childish lips. Naturally my headache took wings and flew away.
Now I am going to tell you a wonderful lesson she taught me on “Forgiveness.”
Mary Katherine—who is with me a great deal—and myself were in the yard cleaning up leaves and digging. The child had on a grown person’s slippers, as is common with children, and she tripped and fell against me.
She has a habit of blaming the other party when anything happens that she does not like; so I proceeded to give her a lesson on taking her own blame for things such as this, that come to her. She did not like that, and immediately started to strike me. I caught her hand and laughed at her, when I saw her becoming very angry; then I started to run from her, playing I was
