The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MARCH 1935

The creation of man is being accomplished by means of the Logos, the Word, which is the active principle in the Idea of the Deity. Man is conformed to the Idea through the Word, much as the statue is conformed to the sculptor’s idea by his use of mallet and chisel.

Having sketched the general outline, Genesis is not concerned with the operation or process of creation or its conformation, and thus man is “formed of the dust of the earth” and having had life breathed into his nostrils, becomes a “living soul.”

A PRAYER FOR THE LONELY

O LORD, thou hast searched me and known me;
Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine up-rising;
Thou understandest my thoughts afar off.
Thou compassest my path,
And art acquainted with all my ways.
WHITHER shall I go from thy spirit?
Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven Thou art there.
If I make my bed in hell, behold thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there shall thy hand lead me
And thy right hand shall uphold me.—Psalms.

FORTUNE-TELLING?

“THERE shall not be found among you anyone that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all these things are an abomination unto the Lord.”—Deut. 18:10-11.
