The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | JULY 1935

The picture that comes to us is of a location in the country or suburbs of some city, with plenty of land on which can be grown whatever is needed for food, with a large building for the School proper with auditorium for recitals and lectures, and smaller buildings for the faculty and students, many of the disciples living on the grounds until sent forth into the world. The School should be as nearly self-sustaining as possible, students who wish to work for their board and tuition helping on the farm and in any other work required for the School’s maintenance; keeping in mind that whatever happens in the outer world, the School should be able to take care of its own.

The idea would be to accept for discipleship only those who can prove themselves as sufficiently selfless and determined to win the goal; these would become the future Workers in the world. Others would be accepted for the lesser grades after likewise passing a rigid test of their sincerity and ability to do the work required in fitting themselves for discipleship. For the sole purpose of the School would be to prepare only the deeply in earnest ones who wish to equip themselves for Service.

We feel that someone somewhere has such a place that would be suitable for such a School; a place perhaps now vacant with seemingly no one wanting it and no way of disposing of it. Were it known that it could be used for such a purpose, the owner might be glad to give it to the School, as many have done for less worthy causes.

Think what it would mean to the world and to the great Christ Cause to have a School where disciples could be sent forth into the world who were able to preach, heal and bless as Jesus did! For did He not promise His disciples that “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do.”

Has this yet been fulfilled? Dear ones, it can and will be fulfilled in such a School.

Could those who wish to support His Cause give to a more worthy or needy project? Many colleges, libraries and churches have received large endowments from people of means. Surely there are unlimited means waiting to endow this consecrated Work being done in His Service.
