The Inner Life 1933
A VISION
THIS experience came about two weeks ago, in the latter part of August. This was before I knew anything about September 15–16th, not yet having received the Special Message or Card, and the July, August and September Magazines I had ordered had not yet arrived.
I had been studying very hard for about one month the Book of Revelations, and received much from meditation thereon. Well, I had my first vision of the Christ, seemingly as a result.
As I have told you, none of my visions come by seeing in the psychic sense. I just feel them and every detail stands out as an inner reality. From one of the articles in earlier magazines was expressed this same thing, so I know you understand.
It seemed that there was North America like a map, with the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean on either side. Portions of land which seemed to be beyond China and Japan, on one side and I should say England and France on the other—appeared in the light.
I am ahead of my story. As a background there seemed to be heavy black clouds—the blackest I have ever seen, and directly in front of them, in America, was a luminous white light, like the Sun before it sets, only more diffused. This radiance also touched the clouds above these other countries, while all of the remaining countries were in complete darkness.
In front of this great Light in America seemed to be an immense building, like the Capitol at Washington, only larger and more dazzlingly beautiful—white, a whiteness such as no mortal eye has seen. Down in front, below the many steps—I do not remember how many—was the figure of the Master.
His glorious face was somewhat like the conceptions we have seen, but so unlike any one of them. His garments were so very white. His face was so blindingly radiant. In one hand—the right hand—He held a two-edged sword; in the left a candlestick with colors different from any we know on earth. Above Him were seven stars, one larger and more brilliant and higher than the rest was in the center with three others on each side.
