THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE

A VISION

ON FRIDAY night, Sept. 20th, while attending a meeting of our Group, I “saw” what I thought, because of the dimness, was an island, but later proved to be a map of the United States in relief completely surrounded by a barbed wire fence covered with red, white and blue bunting. I could see muskets leaning against this fence, the bayonets extending well up beyond the top, and soldiers were standing by. It all appeared rather dim as it would at twilight. Soon out of the semi-darkness I saw the dome of the Capitol at Washington stand out very clearly, as if a light had been thrown upon it, and in a moment there appeared above the dome a large ball of light like a gigantic star, dazzling in whiteness. Later I saw a white flag floating from the top of the Capitol. I heard these words which were taken down in shorthand by our secretary.

“Be it said that the time is coming and the guards are present. Travail begins and the dark clouds of iniquity are spreading their wings, but this glowing star will keep this country in the Light. But guard your thoughts; you have been repeatedly warned to guard your thoughts! And most carefully guard your feelings; do not permit yourselves to be swept off your feet by the waves of emotion that are now flowing through the air. Keep your equilibrium, for when you possess that, nothing can overthrow you!

“The law of life is the same always; the God within is all powerful and when you seek shelter there nothing can harm you. Oh, the misery of mankind! All because of this terrible selfishness, this hatred of brother against brother. Woeful! Deplorable!

Many there are who see the Light, but unfortunately many see only darkness. Therefore you who do see the Light, betake yourselves to the mountaintops of your inner selves and bask in the sunshine of your souls, for there the cannon does not roar. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of time! These lessons you must learn; that in the midst of distress and darkness and misery you can attain the mountaintop of tranquility, peace, sublimity and oneness with God. Have you seen the mountaintop emerge from the fog and cloud? Beneath all is obscurity but as the mountaintop pierces through, you likewise may do the same.

“If each will do his share in dispelling the darkness by keeping the light burning in his own temple, he will help to clear away the tempest. My peace I give unto you and my blessing. And remember, at all hours, night or day, light or darkness, I am near you. He who runs away does not overcome!

“The roadbeds will be trodden down with the burning feet of the victims of the battle lords.”

Following this, I “saw” our U. S. President seated in a chair, hair disheveled, looking greatly worried as if assailed by a great fear. Surrounding him were several Beings in white with arms crossed over their breasts, their eyes riveted on the President, their gaze so steady and piercing, as if trying to force through a powerful thought to his mind. He squirmed about in his chair, apparently very uncomfortable, as if conscious of some force, but unaware of its source. One of these Beings in particular stands out in my mind so that I shall never forget him: He was focusing his gaze on the President with so much power that it seemed as if I could see rays of light coming from his eyes as from some powerful instrument. No wonder the President squirmed! Were these Brothers of Light trying to guide the President? —M. C. W.

LET GO

By Nina Pride Hoag

LET GO of everything but God And His abounding grace; Let go of all the pain and strife And hunger for the things of life That keep you from His grace. And when you find you have let go, You’ll see there’s nothing lost; For all good things belong to Him, You’ll find them when you look within; The others are but dross. —From UNITY Magazine.
