The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | JULY 1935

is faith. A wonderful thought! As faith strengthens, evidence appears.

What is evidence? That which becomes clear or seen. The legal meaning is to “stand out.” When we take into consideration that the word “stand” applies to anything that is firm and steadfast underneath appearances, so faith will cause the evidence which is always present to stand out or be clear and seen.

Then, if we have faith we do not plead to the Divine Mind, we know; so we hold fast and let go. It sounds paradoxical, but paradoxes are among the varieties of life. We hold fast to our idea, our desire, and let go of doubt, worry, or fear, so that the Parent Mind can flow through us perfectly to bring to view the substance which “stood under” and now “stands forth” as evidence. We hold fast to our faith which is our evidence and let go of everything else.

BROTHERHOOD

By Edwin Markham

THE CREST and crowning of all good,
Life’s final star, is Brotherhood;
For it will bring again to earth
Her long-lost Poesy and Mirth;
Will send new light on every face,
A kindly power upon the race.
And till it comes, we men are slaves,
And travel downward to the dust of graves.

Come, clear the way, then clear the way;
Blind creeds and kings have had their day,
Break the dead branches from the path;
Our hope is in the aftermath
Our hope is in heroic men,
Star-led to build the world again.
To this event the ages run;
Make way for Brotherhood—make way for Man!
