The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | SEPTEMBER 1934

our case was finished, and it looked as though our case would start in a minute, the Judge suddenly became ill, and the case was immediately transferred to another Judge, one who was just the opposite kind, very considerate and fair in all cases.

The police of the suburban town who arrested the boy had their political reputation at stake, and it seemed they were bent on railroading him after they had gotten it started. Their chief witnesses became confounded and instead of testifying as the cops intended them to, they piled up all kinds of evidence that proved the boy’s innocence, and without our having to make an attempt to clear him.

Of course I have nothing to say other than that I earnestly tried to do what you suggested, and turned it all over to the Father. To me it was a wonderful demonstration of what that means, and I am very grateful.

COURAGE

By S. B.

BROTHER, Sister, on life’s pathway,
Ye to heavenly heights aspiring,
Courage! When the road grows steeper,
When the shadows gather deeper,
Lift thy vision—seek thy Keeper;
Christ within thee is the Light.

Dear ones, standing on the mountain
Free—from earth’s fast moorings loosed;
Watchful! Lest in pride ye wander
From the fold. Be still, and ponder—Lo! the Master waiting yonder,
He alone can give the Light.

Then beloved, through the valley
Must His children dauntless follow,
Every proof prove unavailing,
Disillusionment but hailing,
Christ the King, the One unfailing,
Christ the everlasting Light.
