“E. A. Chaylor” is the pen name assumed by “Brother XII,” or Edward A. Wilson, who with the help of The Message of the Masters of the Wisdom, above mentioned, and the publicity gained therefrom and from the two articles, The Shadow and The Tocsin, founded “The Aquarian Foundation” in England, and whose headquarters in 1927 was moved to Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Personal acquaintance (of the O. R. editor) with Brother XII, which followed quickly on the heels of the initial correspondence, brought to light the fact that Brother XII was the son of a South of England clergyman. For many years he had been a keen student of Theosophy and Occultism, while a mutual devotion to the teachings of Light on the Path proved to be a strong binding link between contributor and editor. Brother XII, in fact, claimed to be a “personal chela” of the Master who was responsible for the inspiration of the little classic of occultism which was given to the world through the instrumentality of Mabel Collins. Brother XII even went so far as to say that, subject as he was to attacks of angina pectoris, which complaint was liable to carry him off at any time, he had, like H. P. B., been “patched up” in order to fit him to undertake a mission for his Master, the details of which at that time were not yet entirely clear.

“One of the first steps toward the fulfillment of that mission was the publication of a book entitled The Three Truths, a little work which bore witness to many hours of deep meditation on the teachings of Theosophy.”

About the time of the English publication of The Three Truths, the publisher of THE INNER LIFE was in correspondence with E. A. Wilson with a view to bringing out an American edition, which later resulted. The publisher had become interested in The Message and in Brother XII’s claims and representations, to the end that he introduced The Message and The Three Truths to the
