there is a possible escape from conditions that appear to be fastened upon them, by merely changing their thinking and beliefs.

In this way, of course, the One Universal Mind unfolds its Consciousness in its individual centers of mind expression as fast as they become interested enough and are led to study the mind. Gradually thus these mind centers are enabled to understand their nature, capacity and power, and to contact and in time to unite with their Source and thereby leave behind all the results of their past wrong thinking.

ANOTHER book on the same subject, but going much farther in that, instead of merely stating the results of his observations of such mental phenomena the author explains the law back of them, has recently been published and of which we wish to speak now. For we desire our readers to become as fully conversant with the laws of mind as possible.

This book, The Powers That Be, is by Alexander Cannon, M. D., the author of that other book, The Invisible Influence, that aroused such a torrent of speculation, abuse and defense throughout Europe; and to which Edwin C. Hill, the distinguished Radio Commentator, devoted two nation-wide broadcasts in The Human Side of the News.

“No book in years has stirred up so much controversy,” says Mr. Hill. He contrasts the seemingly incredible contents of the book with the author’s impressive record as a scientist, and asks, “If a distinguished scientist, a Doctor of Medicine and a celebrated Psychiatrist, a Master of Arts and a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, would deliberately print a series of falsehoods about the things he relates regarding Tibetan magic and the many other mysteries witnessed?”

Dr. Cannon is undoubtedly a great student, a real scientist and thinker, for he does not hesitate to study and accept all the facts we have embodied in fact, he actually announces (in the quoted excerpts herein) that they are the cause of all the phenomena related in both his books.
