psychic realm is the realm of illusion. And let no one fool you—all such experiences pertaining to the inner realms, to far-off countries and to ancient times are phenomenal, and therefore took place only in the psychic realm of the human mind.

In the true realm of spirit—far above the psychic realm—there are no phenomena, no things or personalities such as described; all is pure truth shown to the mind as ideas or a knowing, without the necessity of visions which often deceive because of self’s interpretation of their meaning and purpose.

But you say, they might be true—the experiences in the book, might have been actual visions. What if they were; what have they to do with the eternal truths voiced in the book? Can your not see their subtle appeal to self, and how they draw your mind away from the truths themselves? Do you not realize that there has never been a book or a movement that attracted readers or followers that did not contain some truths?

If you can see it, the purpose of permitting you to become interested in these movements is to allow you to accept both truth and error, if they contain both and both appeal to you, in order to develop an understanding capable of detecting which is which. Why do you suppose your Higher Self permits you to get caught in the snares of delusion—to fall for the claims of this or that teacher who gives you some truth, a lot of sophistry and much error? Only in order to develop in you the faculty of discrimination, which is nothing more than the ability to listen to and heed His Voice when He tries to teach you His will and way and to point out which is truth and which error, when you are listening to or reading the teachings and claims of a teacher or a leader of some movement. But when you listen to the voice of self you are always get fooled, and the natural result is disappointment, disillusionment and discouragement. When such comes, you may be sure it is because of following self’s desires and not heeding the Loving Voice within.

IT WAS for such purpose alone that this book was presented to our readers and students; sounding our warnings, however, and as carefully as possible preparing all for the testing it was intended to be—to learn how many had really learned the Impersonal truths so that they were able to apply them in this given opportunity.
