The stroke of twelve has sounded. Outside my door a key is being turned in the lock. I will soon be free. I will not become pelled to linger in that borderland of the dead until This Karma is complete. It has taught my soul the bitter lesson that revenge is not mine, but belongs to a higher order of things.

I feel that I have purged my mentality of any desire save to serve those less fortunate wherever I may find them. I believe I will find happiness in teaching newly departed souls, just entering through the portals called death into that new life, the truth about their existence; that in the despondency they may find a ray of sunshine—some hope to which to cling until their right thinking dispels the mist that separates them from their Divine heritage, and they can pass on into the next cycle of progress and grow and grow; and finally become one with that altogether lovely, that dwells in the soul of every man.

I will seek no reward, for serving brings its own reward. As I freely give, freely will it be given unto me, and thus I may burn the barriers away that separate me from my Lord.

Right thoughts be with you—that you may feel the presence of that Divinity that lives within you and will guide and direct you, if you will but think right and listen.

THE ABOVE story was sent us by the wife of the author and was written some months before his demise. It is wholly original, was evidently the result of his meditation upon the next life, and of course the strange incidents therein had nothing to do with his own life. He was a student of the Impersonal teachings and had a very clear grasp of the truth as our readers can see.

What impressed us most in the story was the experiences of the two men before they learned they were “dead,” and the reasoning of John Fillmore about his seeming two selves and the Law of Thinking, proving to him that his former physical body was not he, but only what his mind had thought was he.
