MONEY, THE SERVANT OF MAN

WE ASK you to consider with us that everything, no matter what it is—a man, a thing, a condition, is but an idea in your consciousness.

Whatever is a thing or idea, you invest it with what importance it has to you by what you think and feel about it. What you think and feel about it causes it as an idea to vibrate or hold within itself a certain force or power that you always feel when thinking again of that thing.

Now try to realize that this thing is to you only what you think and feel it is, or what you see it to be in your consciousness. For remember, it is only an idea and exists to you thus see it only in your consciousness. Take any thing, person or condition and look at your idea of it in your mind, and note the force peculiar to itself that it vibrates and that makes it stand out in your consciousness distinctly different from every other idea. Think on this until you get the full significance of our other meaning.

Now let us take your idea of money. What does money mean to you? Think of all the thoughts and feelings you have built in your mind around the idea of money—the force and power with which you have invested it by such thinking and feeling, and how such thinking and feeling have influenced your life in a thousand ways.

When you have considered this sufficiently, perhaps you can see how money (what it means to you) is just an idea in your consciousness, and how it has to a certain extent dominated your thoughts and feelings most of your life, so that it stands out above almost every other thing. And maybe you can see that in consequence that idea comes very near to ruling your consciousness and therefore your life. Can you say that it has no power over you?

Now think, this power is only in the idea—in your idea of money; is the power over you that you have given that idea by the thoughts and feelings about it you have built around it in your consciousness—for that is the only place it has any power, and the only place where it affects you. Is it not so?
