The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | NOVEMBER 1934
eldest daughter. And Margaret handed it with pride to her sister, who then astounded little Willie with the largest single piece of money he had ever possessed, and he strutted around like a king. Then he suddenly noticed that his father had not received a present, and a whoop of joy he crushed the bill into the old gentleman’s hand, shouting, “There, father, is a present. Now you won’t have to worry about the taxes.” Christmas and its Spirit had visited that house.
Can you now recall what I said above. The freedom and rapidity with which money circulates is directly in proportion to its vibration—or to the plane of vibration to which it has been lifted. Suppose that each member of the family had used that twenty dollars for his or her own selfish pleasure, would it have circulated through and blessed the whole family?

MYSELF
By David Park Reese
GIVE me the gift and power to be myself, myself alone,
Nor praise, nor glory from the crowd to spur me on to gain a crown;
But let me be myself, myself alone,
And, if I find myself fall short of sweet compassion and a help to those around,
Let my best self assert itself, and teach me not to frown.
Tinsel and gold, the idle chattering of praise
Are fit for those, who, in the light and music of the stage,
Are painted, dressed, and talk to represent
Some other than themselves, and praised are most content.
But me, let me be myself, myself alone,
And help some other one to gain, perhaps a throne
of happiness; At peace with God and life a bliss,
Then I will know I am Myself, if I can only do but this.
