BELOVED believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Hereby know we the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God;

And every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God; and this is the spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and even now is already in the world.—I John 4:1-3.

“HE WILL give his Angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”—91st Psalm 11.

“This is fundamentally what is meant by the injunction, ‘Prove the spirits, whether they be of God.’ Such Angels will always confess that Christ ‘came in the flesh.’ As He was ever conscious that He was but the channel used by the Father in Heaven to reveal Truth to His children on earth, so, behind His wondrous coming in the flesh, was shown a symbol for the children of earth that they too can, by upliftment of thought toward the Divine Son, be used in the flesh as channels, through which the teaching of the Kingdom can be given to the world.

“Because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” If this statement is linked up with the explanation just given, it is easy to understand that the channels of the lives of the children of earth can, and are, used by those who are not of the Higher Spheres of Love, but are of the spheres of dimness; and those of the spheres of dimness cannot prophesy aught to hold correction in its midst. For the ones of dimness draw their sustenance from the shadows and dimness of their surroundings, while the Angels of Light draw theirs from the Light and Beauty reigning around the Godhead.
