PROVING THE TRUTH

IN READING the article on “Meditation” on page 912, July issue, I must say, yes! It is action only that counts. For God is perfect action, God expresses Himself through action—every action. All that expresses is God in perfect action.

I believe the article following “Meditation,” “Proving the Truth,” is one you wrote to me long ago. Anyway I have proven its truth in my daily life. I was so hungry for the truth you lovingly gave me then. Now “I AM Truth.” I AM It. I live It.

I was poverty stricken for years,—yes, poor in spirit, therefore poor in material things, as your Editorial says. Now, all the Father hath is mine. Why? Because I AM Wealth, Joy, Peace, Love, Abundance. Because I AM God in perfect action.

What do I do? My days are full. True, I clean houses, walls and ceilings. But it is not my work—it is the Father’s work. I love it. Everywhere I go to work they say my work is perfect. I smile, because I know that God’s work is always perfect.

I work spiritually everywhere I go. They do not always know it, but often they say, “You are so happy doing such hard, dirty work. Why are you?” I answer, “I do not see the work or dirt—I see only the perfect results.” Others say, “What is your philosophy of life that makes you so joyful?” I tell them I have learned to live perfectly in the Now; that there is no yesterday or tomorrow; if I do the best I can with this particular moment, I need not look backward or forward, because in doing so I am neglecting this moment and not getting sixty seconds of good from it.

I am no longer disturbed by the things of the world, because I know God is all there is—God is in perfect action in all, through all, for the highest good of all.

If one will only USE the truths you teach! They will someday know that God is Absolute. They will see that “The Impersonal Life” is the pure, absolute teaching. How I struggled, and stumbled, and failed? But I had firmly resolved I would live by Spirit, even if I died in the flesh doing so. Now I know the flesh has become Spirit.

The Light shines through. Yes, my face is showing the Light. Wrinkles have gone, the corners of my mouth turn up now, instead of down. Friends remark at the change. I say nothing, but I know that in Spirit, in God, in the Kingdom, there is no sin, sickness, or death.

Oh how glorious it will be when all begin to live consciously in the Kingdom, in the NOW! I treat continually, transform every thought that is spoken to me or appears to my consciousness that is not true of the Kingdom. I mean that I know if a word or thought is not true of God or God’s Kingdom, it is not true of anything. I know it is only my limited seeing, so I claim perfection for it.

ABOUT the child who refuses to eat? It draws its substance from God, not food. The Word says, “Man lives not by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

My child doesn’t eat. I know that God intelligence in his stomach knows far better than I or anyone else what it needs for that particular temple. Because others have built their temples to conform to people’s ideas is no reason why God cannot build these new little temples in His own way. My child is normal plus. One day a friend tried to insist upon his eating because I wasn’t there, and she saw no sense in a child not eating when he did not want to. So my boy said, “I’m not going to eat; I am not hungry.” She said, “You are hungry; you haven’t eaten enough this week to feed a person a day.” He answered, “Oh well, I won’t eat and I’m not hungry, and I don’t have to eat, ’cause no one can tell me Jesus ever got hungry.” He went days without eating.

And I too feel the same way about it. Maybe I’m wrong, but I am right as far as my boy is concerned. Besides one could never force him to eat either too much, or foods he does not want.

If all is God, and God is all, then child and food are both the same and One. Only we older ones have that old food idea to lay away with a number of equally useless ideas accumulated through the ages. The food only conforms to our thoughts about it anyway. It may nourish me, because I hold thoughts of nourishment. The same food may poison another, because he has thoughts of indigestion. And so after all it is our thoughts that nourish or distress us, is it not? Your article on Meat Eating plainly shows that. Therefore it is true of all food, and not only of meat.

I will close by saying, I am so happy—I am happy because I have learned that the things of the world are not real. So why let unreal things into my consciousness. If your students will only give up the unreal—will hold only to the real!

The fight is hard, but the harder the fight, the sooner it is over. We cannot go half way and gain the goal. It must be 100% or nothing. Just as Christ said, the Kingdom must be first, and it must be the Kingdom only that we seek. But one must forget all about what is to be added. When one has the Kingdom one has everything, and needs nothing.—A. M.

BY SUCH FAITH

BY THE faith that the flowers show when they bloom unbidden,
By the calm of the river’s flow to a goal that is hidden,
By the trust of the tree that clings to its deep foundation,
By the courage of wild birds’ wings on the long migration—
Wonderful secret of peace that abideth in Nature’s breast—
Teach me how to confide, and live my life and rest.
