The Inner Life 1933

THE BANKER

VII. December 13th, 1933.

DEAR Friend:

The Banker has revealed to me in what I have sent you depths in man’s subconsciousness warped by things of which the conscious mind was almost totally in ignorance. He has revealed the effects on the human mind of forgotten teachings, religions and cults that made it harder for the human mind to accept Jesus’ law than would mere natural selfishness. He made plain to me in a flash why it has taken two thousand years since Jesus’ time for men to even dare to restate the law in terms that the public can understand.

The Mysteries in which Symbolism hid beautiful truths, which were perverted by exoteric religions and misunder- stood by ignorant helpless worshippers, and then through the ages were forcibly instilled into the mind from the outer until they became a part of the subconsciousness itself, constitutes an obstacle to the understanding of Divine Giving which only the most inspired teachers have recognized, and even when recognized they had no words to convey their meaning to others. They usually were unable to see that many devout fol- lowers of the law were unable to grasp it even though they had accepted the Cross and were willing to give their lives for it.

The natural selfishness of the personality will yield with growth and inspiration, but the warping of the mind by falla- cies and falsities instilled into it grows worse with each repe- tition of the process; and you know better than I how active that evil is in these days of the hydra-headed monster Propa- ganda. The Banker revealed how the difficulties in obeying the law could appear as external hindrances even when the mind and heart of the devotee was obeying the law as best he could. His statement “went deeper and further back than appears on the surface,” a statement which you underlined. It went deeper into subconsciousness and much further back in time than I dreamed was necessary. Below is the latest message received.
