that this Scripture be interpreted in the manner that natural thinking theologians attempt to explain it.

In Exodus, chapter nineteen, verses 19 and 20, we read, “And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And the Lord came down on Mount Sinai.” Now friends, this was not a man called the Lord that came down on Mount Sinai. This was a spiritual appearing of the Lord. There is One Lord, and He is Spirit. When the Scriptures say the Lord Himself shall descend, that means the descending of God (or His Spirit) into man’s consciousness. When Paul mentioned the Coming of the Lord, he always meant a Spiritual Presence or mental illumination.

The Coming of the Lord in this age is not a physical appearance of the Lord again in a visible body, but the Coming of the Lord in this age is His Spiritual Presence in a many-membered Son, which is the one invisible Body of Christ. The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation.

Now let us examine another Scripture, Acts 1:11, “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.” This Scripture is true, for all Scripture is true; but men with no spiritual understanding have been attempting to interpret this Scripture.

Let us not forget that this promise was made to the ones that had seen Jesus go into heaven, and that He would return in like manner. And further let us not forget that Jesus promised to return to his disciples before they should taste of death. It seemed to the disciples at that time that a cloud came and took Him out of their sight.

If we would interpret the Scripture literally, then one man called Jesus would come and stand on Mount Olivet, and for every eye to see Him we would all have to go there.

Oh, friends, let us not be children in understanding, for Jesus ascended in Spirit. He promised His disciples that He and the Father would be in them, and surely the only way for Jesus to be inside of a human being would be for Him to be there in Spirit. Many of the people that lived in Jesus’ day did not taste of death, or return to the dust of the earth, until within them in Spirit they had seen the Son of Man coming in the Power of the Father.
