the sick and palsied to recover; and it was no wonder that many believed and followed him. His fame spread and people come from far and near to hear him and to be healed; until it attracted the attention of the Priests, who as we all know contrived to have him arrested and finally to be convicted and killed.

The scene and center of all this was in Jerusalem and the surrounding section of Judea, a small province in Asia Minor. Few outside of this province ever heard of this man during his lifetime; but after his death his disciples began to journey to different countries to teach his doctrine of love, peace and good will to men. In nineteen hundred years his name and his words have become known in every country, in every city and village, and in almost every home in the world.

Think what that means! What was the magic in this man’s teaching and life that accomplished this very wonderful thing—making every man to know him and to acknowledge him as the great force he has become in the world? Has any other man ever equalled this? We will try and point out what was his real mission, and to make it so clear that everyone who reads can see it now with new eyes.

He came at the end of an era, similar to the one now closing, to prepare the world for the ushering in of a new and better order of life; to plant in the minds of men the new laws and principles that had to be learned and built into the consciousness and character of the people; to be the teacher, the example and the way-shower for the humanity of the new age that was coming.

All his teaching was done within the period of three short years, yet in that time he laid the foundation in the hearts of men of a love and trust in God that will eventually
