impression; so I asked him to put down the book he was reading and to concentrate on the white light of the Christ as over and in him. This he did, and in a very few moments we had the room cleared of whatever it was, and the next day he went to work, with no further effects.

One afternoon the impression of the need of a friend some five hundred miles distant came to me, and I started to work for her, not knowing what the trouble might be. I seemed to go to her, and found when about fifty feet from her a thick black murky substance through which I had to pass to get to her. Once there, I found her wrapped in something resembling a feather bed, only of grey substance about two inches wide, wound from feet to head and back again. I unfastened and unrolled it all, finding her seemingly none the worse for the experience, but bright eyed and happy; although I had the feeling that someone was trying to smother her, to take her life. I wrote her of the experience, and she replied that for nearly a week she had been unable to get her breath lower than the top of her lungs and felt as though something was tied very tightly around her waist; then, all of a sudden one day it was gone and she could breathe as deeply as she ever had. I have had many experiences in sensing the need of this particular friend and always it has been met.

ANSWERING your question about the reactions to the healings that resulted from your ministrations, it is always well to listen and if possible to determine the cause of the inharmony manifesting in the one you would help, so as to enable you to erase from the mind any wrong thought-picture and to replace it with the truth. If you will note carefully, your solar plexus registers all vibrations that come from another; and those vibrations should tell you their cause, for they come straight from the cause. Watch and study the impressions that you feel, and you will be led just what to say and to do.

This is proven by what you were led to do about your relative and your distant friend, who had attracted to them those dark forces which you were privileged to see, and by your being shown just what to do to free them from those forces. The grayish shape of an octopus and the grayish substance resembling a feather bed wrapped around your friend were but your mind’s likening these forces to such shapes; for they were elemental forces vitalizing the wrong thoughts these two had been thinking and which were
