DO NOT be concerned that you cannot yet abide in the high state of consciousness into which you are lifted at times. For when you can abide there, your work here will be almost finished. Can you not see that your last experience, when you asked the Father to make you wholly selfless that you can be better serve, and the very next day you lost your position, was but an opportunity for you to prove your real love and trust in Him? If you had fully trusted Him, you would have known instantly that you were being lifted away from that old position to prepare you for the much better one that He has waiting for you.

Think you He cannot take care of His servants—especially those who pray earnestly to Him that He make them wholly worthy for His use? Think on this, dear one, and let it be a lesson that learned, by hereafter turning to Him in an utter surrender of self so that He can have His way and do His will in and through you no more hindered by such lack of faith and trust in Him.

THERE is something wrong in your picturing when it has produced the results you state. In the Magazine we are trying to show you the only sure and perfect way. If you will study the Mind articles and those on Inner Workers, you will be able to determine where you failed to bring good into your life. It isn’t a question of “trying hard,” but of letting go and simply knowing the Truth about the God in you as being your Real Self. All the troubles and difficulties in life are caused by self trying so hard to see the goal and to hold that goal or objective firmly in mind, to the exclusion of every other thing; when if you would only stop trying and would know it and let it, the One Mind, or the Divine Power within you will flow through and outmanifest that objective for you. That is the Law and it must result, if you do your part. Study those articles until you get all their inner meaning and you will surely be blessed thereby.

TRY TO realize that the only dark forces there are, are those of lower self, which are always trying to hold the consciousness—soul—down to the animal nature; while the Spirit, the One Consciousness, is likewise trying to draw the soul back into Oneness with Itself. However, the action and the effect of these forces cause the soul to ever strive to free itself, thus gradually drawing from Spirit, the Source, the power to overcome these animal forces and compel them to serve it instead of hindering and limiting its progress.

In other words, this lower self of yours contains many wonderful forces which have to be trained and disciplined and made to understand that you are Spirit and are the master. They then become wonderful servants that will enable you to accomplish anything you seek in the Higher Life. Therefore, study these forces of self of selfishness—and strive to master them and never allow them to rule you, but take from them all their power and use it for the helping and blessing of others.
