Each day at 12 o’clock noon, we take the names of those asking for such help in the Silence of the Spirit, and “Speak the Word” for them. Many hundreds have testified to receiving the blessings of such ministry.

WE ARE confident that the study and the daily PRACTICE of the Teachings of the WAY OUT Course will bring to you the desired liberation. Our reason for urging our students to take one Lesson at a time, is to make it more possible for them to build the truths into consciousness, by pondering each particular idea and then by confirming these studies by practice. For this reason the slower the better, as this is a foundational work.

This is important, particularly for you, dear one, as you are well equipped to be a teacher and yet there are certain places in your outer self that need strengthening—the emotions in particular. There is always, for each of us, someone or some circumstance that can get a rise out of us. Read over again the chapter in the IMPERSONAL LIFE on Soul Mates which has valuable teaching that relates to friends, business associates and relatives, as well as to the partnership in marriage, though this latter is the relation on which the emphasis is placed in this chapter.

Search to perceive the Divine in any particular individual. Realize that their association with you is brought about by a definite intention on the part of your Higher Self to endeavor to teach you a needed lesson. It is not a situation to avoid but to court, for what it can bring to you in self discipline, love and Soul discernment.

We advise that you do not make efforts to arouse the sixth sense. These inner faculties have undoubtedly been ours in past lives. Every student studying along these lines today has, probably been a deeply initiated mystic gifted with clear psychic sight in other lives. But these faculties are in abeyance—in many—in this life because we are gaining the dominion of Spirit in the realm of the conscious mind. Ponder this significant fact and you will see that there is a profound reason why you do not have this inner sight at this time. Your Higher Self is determined to have the control and the use of your whole outer being in full awareness. You have a great future of service ahead of you but do not rush the work of our Course, because you are building the foundation, brick by brick, and never should have to return to strengthen it.

We are glad to have your letter and in answer would say, that the Impersonal Teachings are not, in any way, an attempt to avoid facing reality. But what is reality? In its final analysis it is that which never changes, or the true unalterable facts of the Nature of God and man and the Cosmos. What your friends mean by reality however is probably the changing conditions of sorrow and joy, health and disease, poverty and riches, that surround us in this ever-changing world. Therefore, the term “reality” must be defined before a true understanding can be gained.

These troublous conditions may be altered in many ways. Sometimes legislation temporarily improves them; economic conditions definitely affect them. But all attempts to benefit them, change as rapidly as the phenomena of poverty and disease themselves.

We do not deny that the world is filled with trouble. But we know that this trouble is, in part at least, caused by fear of it, or by the acceptance of existing conditions as inevitable, or by agreement with the beliefs of other people, and that they may be changed by positive thinking. That is to say, by thought based on the unchangeable reality of God’s nature: by a recognition that God is ever-present and His Power ever- available.

From the standpoint of the ordinary person everything is real which he perceives by means of his senses, or of which he hears and accepts as being true. But students of the power of thought, and religious believers have discovered that these effects may be changed and indeed removed by going to the root from which they spring. It has been proved that disease can be checked and wiped out by the power of prayer, and also by the action of right thinking.

As you proceed with the study of the WAY OUT Course, you will find that these questions will become much clearer to you because we do not offer merely a means of escape or avoiding any issue, but we also outline a definite means of controlling a situation creatively. We believe that you will find it wiser not to discuss these subjects too much with people who do not understand or agree with your viewpoint until you are more surely grounded yourself. In the meantime, radiate love into your place of business before you go there in the morning, knowing that as the daylight has preceded you into the office, so has the light of spiritual understanding gone before to illumine the dark places. Watch the power of God in operation and learn to depend upon it.
