(2) You say you do not understand why your Spiritual unfoldment should be so slow. It is only because you are not doing your part; instead you are allowing your mind to be filled with all kinds of negative thoughts and untruths about yourself, and about God in you; for His Life is the only life you have, and of course His health is always perfect. Likewise being your life He is your strong support and your only Source of supply. You know this intellectually, but you do not live it. How then can you expect your mind to be a channel through which God’s blessings can flow to you in the guidance you seek, when it is all clogged up with such hindering thoughts? Only by knowing and living the truth, as we have so often written you and as is so clearly pointed out in the Papers, can you grow Spiritually and find the salvation you seek. In other words, not until you do your part can you expect God to do His part.

(3) Yes, as you so plainly see, it is one’s own fault if one is not progressing as rapidly as one wishes. Have you ever realized, dear friend, that if your husband were all that you would have him be, there would not be the opposition that you need to drive you within and there receive the inner guidance and strength necessary to make you more patient, kind and gentle in your dealings with him and with others—in other words, give you the opportunity to prove in your life the truths being taught you? Truth is of no value unless it is thus used, and Spiritual growth comes only from such conscious and deliberate use.

Can you not see that everything comes to you in your life is intended to help you unfold the beautiful Christ nature that is hidden deep in your heart and is but waiting to come forth? Think that over, and thank God that He is giving you this opportunity to grow like unto His Son.

(4) We are glad that you are getting so much from the study of St. John’s Gospel through the help of the Papers. We know of nothing in the way of Spiritual teachings in the Bible or elsewhere that contain so much real help and inspiration as the Gospel of St. John.
