PARENTS-TO-BE

As to the problem of the young man and young woman you mention, they should be shown that to do what they contemplate would be the same as killing the child after it was born. For that child was intended to be born by the Great Ones Who are back of and have charge of all souls coming to earth; not to speak of the soul itself who has been given this opportunity of learning the lessons still needing to be learned or to accomplish certain work to be done. Therefore, by its parents-to-be destroying its physical life, would be a crime against God and against man. The result of this would be that in a future life they would have to pay back the debt they incurred to this soul, and in a much harder way than would follow their permitting it to live and fulfill its destiny.

Try to explain it to them in those words and then suggest that the only way is for them to get married and if they are unable to support themselves as yet, to live apart until they can assume their proper responsibilities. If they will do this, and can be shown that their only salvation in view of this mistake is to turn to God, ask His forgiveness and to be helped in the future to do only what He wants them to do, they will be given opportunities sooner or later to fulfill their proper obligations to this soul that has come to them.

THE PROBLEM OF DRINK

Your problem is a difficult one, but it would seem that your husband very much needs your help and that as you married him for better or for worse, your duty is to stay with him, doing all you possibly can to aid him recover his strength of will and fight the battle that will bring back his true self into expression. You may not know it, but the temptation to drink comes to him from evil entities on the lower astral planes that are continually putting suggestions of drink in his mind, so that they can get the alcohol, which they then obtain from the fumes of the spirit drank. So you see he needs help badly, and you can help him if you strive earnestly to do what is shown in Lessons 7 and 8.
