This was an actual experience of your leaving your body and finding yourself just outside, but on this side of a river across which you saw those who are living in the Spirit side of life. The river was the River of Death, or is what seemed that to you in this new consciousness in which you found yourself. The people beckoning to you on the other side were in truth your friends, Louise and Hattie. But of course as the Voice said, your time had not yet come, and you must stay on this side.

The numbness was caused by being out of your body so that you could not control it; but when you awakened immediately after you came back into it, it shortly with effort again responded to your will.

Your experiencing the freedom and joy while in your soul consciousness freed from the heavy hampering influence of your physical body, is that felt by many these days who escape from the confines of the flesh in dreams or otherwise, and they seldom desire to come back. But until their work is finished here, they must return and accomplish what is before them to do. Such glimpses of the inner world, however, always serve to inspire them with a deeper understanding of life’s meaning and purpose, and that is why such glimpses are vouchsafed them.

The voice that spoke was that of the One on a higher plane of consciousness Who was sent to guide and guard you, accounting for His being invisible.
