The Inner Life

could be, thinking how beautiful was the face and what a radiant smile. When I got near enough so I could recognize the face, I found to my amazement that it was a picture of myself. I could hardly believe it and was so embarrassed that I had been thinking all those complimentary things about myself; for I supposed all the time it was some stranger or possibly an acquaintance. It made me feel very humble, and I wondered if it could be possible that I looked like that to others.
(2) I was all alone and suddenly saw a beautiful fountain. It was pure white, and yet seemed to be transparent. As I watched a fire appeared in it, and I saw the flames rise and curl in and out among the spray and fall of the water—but neither one destroyed the other. I stood and watched the beautiful sight and wondered why the water did not put the fire out, or why the fire did not burn up the fountain. But it continued performing just the same way—the water dashing on the flames, and the flames curling around in the water; when I awakened and realized it was just a beautiful dream.
Regarding your dreams, in the first one you were shown the picture of your Real Self, in order that you would always remember it and strive to make your outer self like the beautiful and perfect Self you saw.
In the second dream, that fountain of water and of fire was shown you to illustrate how the mind and spirit work together—that in the outpouring of ideas and thoughts from within, occasionally there is a small flame of spirit that curls in and out among them, illuminating the mind and bringing out their beautiful inner meaning.
We urge you to go back into the consciousness of both of these dreams with the suggestions we have given you, and see if you cannot now get much more out of them than you did before.
