sprinkled in their wine is the powder of deception and delusion that intoxicates their senses, looses their passions and soon drives them wildly insane. From the spiritual height to which you were led you could see that what had appeared so beautiful and had attracted them to the banquet was their own selfishness; could see this clearly, see the unspeakable things they were doing—how few would listen and follow you, and how now they were seeking to escape, but there was no escape; for the fire of their lusts and passions were destroying them and none could save them now. What seemed to be children who were saved were the simple and pure in heart who could not be hurt by the flames.

(3) This time I was in a great church, praying. A devastating wind swept in and about the place apparently taking all of us with it. When the wind subsided, I found myself outside the church with crowds of people standing about in groups. Everything seemed peaceful and unchanged. “That’s strange,” said I; “such a wind and nothing changed.”

A white-robed one near me smiled and said, questioningly, “You think so? Look again.”

Then she handed me a sort of map or diagram. I compared it with the church and at last saw what the change was. The same place, but faced in the opposite direction! I went in and found all the essentials—the high altar, seats, etc., there; but all the non-essentials—gew-gaws—gone. A thoroughly cleaned out and beautiful cathedral.

The third dream was to show you that when you truly retire into the Temple of your Soul and pray in secret to the Lord, the wind of His Holy Spirit rushes in and sweeps you out of the old consciousness into a new one, in which, though everything is the same in appearance, yet all is quiet and peaceful. When questioning the reason, you were shown that the change is really in you; for now instead of facing outward to the things of the world, your heart is turned inward to the things of the Spirit, where you can see the High Altar of the Soul and all the essentials prepared for the true worship of the Christ.
