The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MAY 1935

We note the experience you had where you were shown how to change physical atoms through the Christ force into atoms of light. Do you really believe this can be done? If so, then try to prove it here in the outer life, for it will be wholly possible if you will do it exactly as you were shown or dreamt.

We are proud of you that you were able to overcome the suggestion of pneumonia placed in your mind during your dream of several months ago. It is really in such ways that the attack of the soul, although the human mind may not know of it at the time. The outer man will have to bear the brunt of it, however, and must pay for listening to these suggestions, if he still has not the power to throw them off. In the next dream it looks as if the three “people” who were working against you were of the cat, fox and wolf types. But if you can master and wholly rise above those qualities in your own nature, there is nothing they can do to hurt you. It is your recognition and fear of them and their power that enables them to accomplish anything against you. Try to realize this and see just why it is so.

INITIATIONS

RETIRING on Christmas Eve, at about eleven o’clock, I quickly dropped off to sleep and was carried away to a beautiful Temple and became a part of a ceremonial. As I walked toward the altar I saw three persons whom I knew, standing at its foot, and at the head stood my Teacher. On the altar was a woman in travail.

I said, “O Master, there is a birth going on.” “Yes, my child,” was his reply, and then—I was the one on the altar, and I was in travail.

I cried, “O Master, I am so afraid.” But he said to me, “Fear not, my child. This is the birth of the Christ-child in the heart.” The pain leading up to the birth is filled with painful experiences; but having attained, the actual birth is painless. To you is born this day in the city of Bethlehem—the purified consciousness—the Christ-child, to lead you on.

I was surrounded by a wonderful Light, and was watching a beautiful star. Then I became the Light—then, the star, its five points so clearly outlined, and each point extending downwards was like a searchlight which seemed to lighten all the world below. The Teacher said, “The star is your high ideals. His last words, “Let your light shine,” seemed to fill me with a great sense of responsibility; but with it all a wonderful inspiration. When I awakened it was also very real, and beautiful, like an actual experience. Was it an initiation?

Your dream was an actual experience in the soul realm of the birth of the Christ Child within your soul, and outwardly should know something of that birth by the change that has evidently taken place in your life. You may call it an initiation, if you will, but we like to look at it as a real birth of Divine Love—the coming to life of the Real You. Therefore, be concerned more about the Blessed Christ Child within, Whom you are to nourish and cherish from now on, than about the significance of the star, of its being the “star of initiation,” which is purely intellectual concept. The realization of His Presence within is surely of far greater significance than the participating in any intellectual initiation ceremonial.
