WE INDICATED in the last article on the Mind that we would explain more about the mind and its powers, and in order to do this we will herein try to give you a clear view of just what is your mind.

Anyone who has carefully and intelligently studied himself must have arrived at the realization that he is pure consciousness; that he must be a center of awareness in the One Consciousness, which center is seemingly located at present in the brain of the physical body, and that one becomes aware of what is going on around him by means of what is called the mind; but that the mind is in the nature of a mirror-like quintessence of consciousness that, in a way all its own, receives, records, translates and forms into thought-pictures the vibrations brought to it by the senses, thus serving as a kind of radio receiver as well as transmitter of those thought-pictures which it broadcasts over vibrations of its own, created by desire.

The mind then is but a focalized center of consciousness, through and by means of which consciousness expresses itself by the process called thinking, the mind by thinking forming the thought-moulds or pictures, and consciousness filling them with whatever life, intelligence and nature are also given them by thinking, which qualities are all inherent in consciousness and are ever seeking to express their pure and perfect state in pure and perfect forms.

Think this over carefully before you approach what follows, which is an illustration of this great truth put in a graphic form that requires clear mental vision to catch its full meaning.

IMAGINE if you can a dense cloud forming a curtain of darkness surrounding the earth; that above and beyond that curtain all is brilliant light, even as the light of the Sun; and that the only light that comes to earth is from millions of holes in the curtain, some of which are good-sized, like “peek holes,” and others vary in size down to small pin-point holes, but the vast majority so small that the light can barely penetrate through.

Now let us suppose this curtain to be the consciousness of humanity, the holes to be the minds of those individuals through which the light of Divine Mind or of Truth in some degree shines; enabling humanity as a whole to see more or less clearly its
