THE NINETY-FIRST PSALM

By R. H. W.

HE THAT dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High (the innermost consciousness, deep, deep, within—my I AM consciousness)
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (the All-Power, the Omnipotent God).
I will say of the Lord Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress (my defense and deliverance),
My God, in whom I trust.

He delivers me from the snare of the fowler (the trap or net of circumstances),
And from the deadly pestilence (bronchitis, influenza, colds or other disease).
He covers me with his pinions (enfolds me in his arms)
And under his wings I take refuge (cuddling in the safety of his dear Love):
His truth is a shield and buckler (a protection from assault, enclosing me in the consciousness of its loving power).

I am not afraid for the terror by night (burglars, fires or other dangers),
Nor for the arrow that flieth by day (the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”):
For the pestilence that walketh in the darkness (the fears and worries of the human mind),
Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday (at this time when all business seems to be wasting away).

A thousand fall at my side (they do not understand how close he is),
