“It is the purpose of this book to give to its readers the very valuable information I have received from those who have spoken to me from the Etheric World about and around us. Over a period of five years I have spoken on numerous occasions for hours at a time with those whom the world calls dead. Hundreds have spoken in their own voices, many of which have been recognized, and they have told me things which at first I found extremely difficult to understand or appreciate. Only as I came to understand better the laws governing the Universe was I able to comprehend what was told me by those who once lived here on earth.” (The italics are ours.—Editor.)

You will note he admits that he came to the study of Spiritualism unequipped with any previous Spiritual knowledge of the great inner truths Christ taught or of the laws governing the Universe; yet he attempts to destroy all the beliefs that have built up the Spiritual life of millions during the past nineteen hundred years. Of course we mean the beliefs built on the true Spiritual meaning of the Bible’s teachings.

This he does by stating and trying to prove that “Christianity is not a revealed religion but is simply a new name given to the former ceremonies and beliefs of the ancient world.”

“Theology with all its rites and mysteries is astronomy as it appeared to those of long ago, and ecclesiasticism is the play composed of myths and legends woven around real or imaginary lives to whom were attributed all that was attributed to the Sun. Hence on to the lives of the great and noble were draped those mythical stories, most of which are familiar to us from the writings in the Gospels.

“After death these men were deified to become sun-gods. The god-man was generally a moral teacher. He was given a virgin as his mother whose name was Maria or something similar. Our translation of the word is Mary, and the month we call May probably derives its name from this virgin mother. The word means the sea from which sprang all life. The god-man was born in a stable or something similar, this being the story associated with the Sun in the sign of Capricornus.”
