The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MAY 1933

archetypes of everything on earth in these six great periods of time had been created only in mind, and that nothing had yet come forth into visible physical form; meaning that the earth and all on it were still of etheric substance and therefore were intangible and invisible and had not yet become material in nature.

But as time passed these forms began to grow more and more concrete and tangible and to give evidence of soon appearing outwardly on the plane of matter—their etheric state being the final stage of Spirit involving in matter before unfolding into visible, material expression—thus preparing them as the physical habitat of man.

All of which shows clearly that the first chapter of Genesis is but a symbolic outpicturing of the descent or involution of Spirit, or of the consciousness of the Sons of God, into material expression, so to speak; while the second chapter begins the history of the evolution or return of Spirit, or the lifting up of that part of consciousness now expressing itself in matter, back again into the pure consciousness of Spirit.

As this treatise will necessarily have to repeat much of what was given several years ago as definite teachings on the Soul, we will quote occasionally from those teachings.

“It was at this stage—commencing in the fifth verse of the second chapter—that Jehovah God, Himself, took charge, and calling upon His Sons of Mind (the Sons of God) to assist Him, He sent Them to earth to superintend under His guidance the spiritual development of these human beings—Their own progeny and for whom They were responsible—made in the form of His image and likeness (the Elohim were of course also in His likeness) but not yet endowed with those Divine attributes
