The Inner Life

as the Gods, even though its outer organism is of male or female gender. But a purified soul has now to its regenerate state only by learning that sin has not in it the light of Truth, and only after tasting of all the fruits of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and thereby learning through much suffering what sin and evil are NOT. It is then and then only that the world, the flesh and the devil no longer interest or can hold such a soul; for after gaining such knowledge it longs to become One with the source of Light and Truth—One with its Creator.

But such had not yet been the experience of the virgin soul—one as yet untouched by sin; such knowledge can be won only from experience. The time to embark on such experience had now come for our Adamic man in Eden.

“And Jehovah God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a helpmeet for him.

“And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon man and he slept; and He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh thereof; and of the rib which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.”

WHILE having evolved in consciousness to that of an awakened and immortal soul and thereby privileged to live in his soul consciousness, man still possessed his physical body, but instinctively functioned in it only enough to take care of his physical needs. And at this point it is well to fix in mind that here were the Sons of God descended into the soul, and the human mind’s consciousness had ascended to that of the soul; all three now—the Higher Self, soul and human mind abiding
