The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | AUGUST 1933

or as if it were your child—which it really is; so that you can purposely and definitely teach it the truth of Who and What you are, and thus begin to bring its consciousness into oneness with your knowing.

In order to do this, you must now assume, if you have got your mind to accept all the foregoing, that you in your Real Self are a Son of God, are a Divine Being, a very manifestation of God; that you existed long before this world was, that you in your human soul created and have lived in many bodies since coming to earth, have manifested and worked among men in many personalities, have taught your soul great knowledge of earth and humanity, gained from the many experiences through which you have led it, and that you are intending to uncover as much of this knowledge as possible to your present personality, so that it can consciously coöperate with you in that which you came here this time to accomplish. For not until your mind accepts the truth of your Sonship or Divinity, and acts accordingly, can you manifest the good in your outer life and do the work you came here especially to do at this time.

When learning to talk to yourself, there is no better way to prepare your mind and get it in the attitude of listening than is taught in The Impersonal Life, an earlier Message, which it were well you familiarize yourself with and carefully study, if you have not done so already. In the second chapter you are told to meditate upon and repeat the words:

“Be still!—and KNOW,—I AM,—God.”

First, try to imagine yourself as being within, as being the I AM, or the Spirit of God, that is the Life, Power and Intelligence that is the Real You. Then note the special emphasis placed on each of the different words.
